Winners!

Hey everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank you all for participating in our contest.  It means a lot to us that you follow us and read our stuff.  Although it is nice to see our numbers growing, we just like seeing people out there listen to us and talk back to us.

It's been great to hear from you all, and I hope that you guys will continue to leave comments and interact with us.  The value of the community is greatly increased when more people participate.

It was also great to see so many positive comments. Sure, you had incentive to be positive, but at least you've proved that it is, in fact, possible to talk about good things on the Internet. I actually liked the comments so much I may try to do something cool with them, and if I do, I'll share the result with you all.

In the meantime, be sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and add us on Google+.  And please, share us with your friends.  Because you like us. Right, guys? Right?

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for.

This contest is now closed. We announced the winners here.

We've been tweeting about it for a long time; when we reach 1,000 followers on Twitter, we'll give something away. Like a board game, or something.

Well, we did it, and we did it before Gen Con, which means we picked up some hotness from the show and now we're going to GIVE IT TO ONE OF YOU.

News Bits: 11/19/2012

No comments:
It's Thanksgiving this week--time for family and friends (and games?). In any case, this is a news-heavy week. Check it out below!

Next 7 Wonders expansion is a Wonders pack [Link] Three new wonders and one redone one will be the next expansion for 7 Wonders, available first quarter 2013. (Where do I send my money?) It looks like the new wonders will be the Great Wall of China, an update of Mannekin Pis (presumably without the beer ability), Stonehenge, and Abu Simbel. On the linked thread, someone who had a chance to try the new wonders gives his impressions.

Time for a giveaway!

[Note: This contest is now over. (We announced the winner here.) But check out our review of Infiltration!]

'Tis the season of giving! 'Tis also the season of our approximate two-year anniversary, and also the season of our 400th twitter follower. For all these reasons, we thought it'd be a great time to... that's right, you guessed it... give away a free board game!

And what better game to give away than one of the games we've been most excited about this year, Donald X's INFILTRATION (see our review here).  Infiltration, a push-your-luck game of breaking in and stealing from a sinister megacorporation's headquarters set in the Android universe, is quite a blast to play. With its well-formulated structure, fast-paced play, and risk/reward tension all set to a delightful backdrop, I have the feeling this game will stay in my collection for a very long time. And now you're getting the chance to add it to yours, for free!

There are three ways to enter:
  • Leave a comment on this post (make sure you give us some way to contact you if you post under an anonymous or guest account
  • Follow us on twitter (If you're already following us on twitter, congratulations! You've already entered!)  Our account is: @iSlaytheDragon
  • Join our Facebook page. (Again if you already 'like' our page, many thanks! And you already gain an entry!)
You only need to do one of the above three to enter, but each additional thing you do gains you an additional entry.

You may gain further additional entries in the following ways:
  • Tweet about our contest with a link to this post and include the hashtag #islaythedragon
  • Leave a meaningful comment on anything we post between now and the end of the contest (only one entry per post, but feel free to comment as much as you'd like!)
  • Share our contest post on Facebook
  • We may announce additional ways to gain more entries at any time during the contest period
The contest officially ends at 11:59 p.m. CST on Friday, November 30th. At that time we will gather all of the entries and put them in a big numbered list and then choose a random number. We will then contact winner, and they'll have three days to respond. If they don't respond to claim their prize, we will pick a new winner, rinse and repeat, until we find someone to claim the prize.

Now for the fine print:
This contest is in no way sponsored by Fantasy Flight Games (we are supplying the prize ourselves) or anyone associated with Infiltration (we chose this prize because we love Infiltration), so you will receive as soon as we can get it shipped to you. We will do our best to ship your prize in a timely manner, subject to availability. The contest will end on November 30 at 11:59pm (central time)  We will contact winners the following day using their method of entry (DM for Twitter, Facebook message for Facebook, e-mail for comments on FDQtherefore, use a real name and e-mail address; it will only be used for this contest, promise). If the winner does not respond within three days, we will choose a new eligible winner, and so on, until someone claims the prize. This contest is open to anyone with an address in the continental United States, except for our family members (sorry, Mom!). (International folks: if you can find a continental US address willing to accept your prize, we'll ship it there, and they can handle the next leg of the journey to you.) We will have the prize ordered within 24 hours after the winner responds to claim their prize, again subject to availability. The winner will be chosen using random.org. We reserve the right to cancel the contest, modify the rules, or disqualify any entrants if there appears to be any tomfoolery or loopholingplease, follow the spirit of a good-natured giveaway contest.

Good luck, and happy slaying!

And the winner is...

3 comments:
Well, first of all we'd like to thank everyone who participated in the contest.  We love the comments we've been seeing and we appreciate you guys spreading the word of our dragon-slaying existence around.

For those of you who didn't win... don't worry, there will be more awesome giveaways in the future.  And don't forget those free print-and-play games we're working on.  In short, you may not have won Hinterlands this time around, but you have discovered our site with reviews, discussions, and general board-game delight.

So now, the moment you've all been waiting for.  Who was it that struck gold? Who overcame all the odds to rise up and stand against the evil, terrifying dragon we like to call Luck?

*drumroll*

and the winner is....

@ChrisJazz

Congratulations, Chris! You lucky dog.  We hope you enjoy your prize... and make sure to share it with all your friends.  That is, after all, what board gaming is all about.

Seeya next time, folks

[Ended] FDQ: Do You Want to Win a Copy of Dominion: Hinterlands?

37 comments:

EDIT 3/14/2012: This contest has ended, but our review of Dominion: Hinterlands is posted here.

The answer to that question is probably yes, you would like to win a copy of Dominion: Hinterlands. At least, if you are alive and an appreciater of fine games, that is probably your answer.

To celebrate our one-year anniversary of bringing you gaming views and reviews, iSlaytheDragon.com is giving away one copy of Dominion: Hinterlands. There are several methods you can use to enter:
  • Comment on this post and any FDQ post dated between now and November 11. (Only one comment per FDQ post counts as an entry.)
  • Follow our new Twitter account: @iSlaytheDragon (It doesn't count for entries, but you are also welcome to follow us individually, @Futurewolfie and @FarmerLenny.)
  • Retweet our contest tweet (only counts once, but feel free to retweet as often as you like).
  • Like our new Facebook page.
  • Pay attention for more chances at entries in the days to follow...

Now for the fine print:
This contest is in no way sponsored by Rio Grande Games (we are supplying the prize ourselves) or anyone associated with Dominion (we chose this prize because we love Dominion), so you will receive the prize whenever the game is released to the public. We will do our best to ship your prize in a timely manner, but please understand that in the world of board games, release dates are guidelines rather than rules, and we have no control over that. The contest will end on November 11 at midnight (central time) to ensure prompt delivery of your prize right around when Hinterlands releases. We will contact winners the following day using their method of entry (DM for Twitter, Facebook message for Facebook, e-mail for comments on FDQtherefore, use a real name and e-mail address; it will only be used for this contest, promise). If the winner does not respond within three days, we will choose a new eligible winner, and so on, until someone claims the prize. This contest is open to anyone with an address in the continental United States, except for our family members (sorry, Mom!). (International folks: if you can find a continental US address willing to accept your prize, we'll ship it there, and they can handle the next leg of the journey to you.) The winner will be chosen using random.org. We reserve the right to cancel the contest, modify the rules, or disqualify any entrants if there appears to be any tomfoolery or loopholingplease, follow the spirit of a good-natured giveaway contest.

Good luck, and happy slaying!
