The Finesse of Failure

You may or may not be aware - I've mentioned it lightly in passing - but we're working on a site overhaul.  Starting early in 2014, iSlaytheDragon will become far more than a straightforward blog.  We'll still have our weekly posting schedule, but everything will be organized much better, easier to find, and easier to discover new things.  With that will also come a fantastic new look.

Part of the process of updating to the new layout has been digging through old posts to categorize and organize them all.  Not surprisingly, digging through written records of your past can bring up memories, it can show you how far you've come, and it can also remind you of your failures.  It's a chance to reflect on such things, and its not always pretty.

FDQ: the Future of iSlaytheDragon

In lieu of a normal FDQ today, this is more of a feedback question. We're always looking for ways to improve iSlaytheDragon for you guys. Of course, everything we do requires time and effort on our part, and though we'd love to do every possible thing we think of, that just isn't realistic.

A recent idea involves creating a fairly regular board gaming videocast. The question is, do you, loyal readers, actually desire such a thing? Would that enhance the board gaming hobby or just add to the noise?

If we were to create a videocast, what sort of thing would you like to see? We could do anything from a talk-show styled thing discussing board game current events, to more review-style videos, to "how-to-play" videos, or even possibly our own gameplaying show a la Tabletop, albeit much lower budget.

Your feedback would be much appreciated; any thoughts you have will be considered, and will help us decide the next steps to take for our site. If you have ideas or suggestions other than what I've written here, please feel free to share those as well.

Slaying Bigger Dragons

Here at iSlaytheDragon.com, we like to do 2 things - play boardgames, and of course slay dragons.  The two activities are not mutually exclusive.

However, much like the titular Dragon, board games are best taken on, not alone, but with friends.  Allies.  Comrades.  Or at least, someone else to take the hits while you sneak around behind and finish off the monster. 

"What the heck is this guy talking about?" you're probably asking yourself right now.  Well, I'll tell you just exactly what I'm talking about: the iSlaytheDragon family is growing.  You might even say, Doubling.

Yes, that's right.  In the spirit of collaboration, two-heads-are-better-than-one, etc. etc. etc., and much discussion and even a so-called "business meeting" (note: neither one of us actually called it that), I'm pleased to announce that my Nemesis, @FarmerLenny (aka "The Other Jon"), is joining the iSlaytheDragon team!  In a sense, he is creating the iSlaytheDragon team, as without him it's just singular, just me, and that's not really a team.

Wait! you say.  Wait just a hot second! What does this mean for me?

Well, I'll tell you just exactly what this means for you.
